Ashley Express Sites

I have a Para Ordnance P-12 that i want to change the sites on. I like the looks of the Ashley Express sites but will have to have my slide milled for the front site. If anyone has had this done or any other site work any info would be appreciated.

I have them installed on a Colt CCO and am having them put on a Hi Power that is in the process of being customized. For me there is no better combat sight available. At 47, the eyes aren't what they were and these really help. I have a Commander with MMC adjustable sights which are certainly very good, but I much prefer the Ashley Express!

Hey, can you gentlemen inform me as to the benefits of the Ashley sights?

Thanks,
CMOS

NRA? Good. Now join the GOA!

The NRA is our shield, the GOA will be our sword.

I have the Ashley big dot with tritium front and back on a Glock 23. I like them. If I were to do it over again I would probably get the standard dot front sight with tritium insert and the regular non-tritium back sight.

Here is a strange analogy, but with the Ashley sights, the front sight is like the sun, the back sight is like the horizon. Perfect alignment is when the full sun is just over the horizon, just like a good sunset.

Instead of getting a rear night sight, I would apply the money towards getting a rail mounted light like the M3 (of course it depends on what type of gun your getting).

CMOS- The Ashley sights allow a fast sight picturew with a round ball front and V rear. They descend from rifle sights for dangerous game in bush country. They are combat sights, you will not shoot bullseye with them. People who are far-sighted and have difficulty seeing up close often like these sights too. Good shooting.

Do a search on 'Ashley Express' in the 'Hanguns' forum and the 'Gear' forum. There's some old discussion about these things to be found there...although I'm all for new discussion! :)

Myself, I'd especially like to hear from people who have used the Ashley's AND the Vmax Pro-Sights on their experiences with the two (very similar) systems. It looks like the Vmax sights don't offer a tritium front :P, however.

I put them on my Springfield TRP.
AWESOME!
I wish I still had that TRP = but I also had the Bobtail conversion done to it and I hated the results... But a fellow I knew loved the results and made me an offer I could not refuse.

GRD,

I have the Middlebrooks Pro-Sights system on a Kimber and the Ashleys on a Glock 34. I prefer the Pro-Sights - the fiber optic front sight is very fast to pick up and it is easier to shoot accurately with this system than the Ashleys IMO. This is probably due to a smaller front dot size and a deeper 'vee' rear sight.

Having said that, I think the Ashleys are outstanding on a carry gun where head shots at 25 yards are unlikely (compared to competition). I prefer the standard dot size. The Ashleys also have the advantage of having a tritium front sight. There is a tritium version of the Middlebrooks front sight now available, but this is either/or with the fiber optic (you have to swap them out).

Bottom line is that I prefer the Middlebrooks for competition (despite my dismal performance with them in the recent IDPA Nationals) but would certainly consider the (tritium) Ashleys on a carry gun. I would really like to try the Middlebrooks rear sight with the Ashley tritium front. Possibly the best of both worlds.

We've found the Ashley's to be the fastest fixed combat sight available out to 25 yds. Beyond that, it becomes difficult to get extreme precision- but if your firearm is set up for personal defense- we would recommend it wholeheartedly.

The principle is quite simple- Place the golfball at the end of your slide onto the target and pull the trigger. You are FORCED to SEE your front sight. Even when your focal plane is on your target, the golfball is there, perhaps a bit fuzzy, but superimposed on the target nonetheless.

Ashley's AR15 front sight is a great tool for CQB- some of our guys prefer it to red dot systems in room clearing situations.

We stock Ashley Outdoors Express sights, because we are believers in the system. All of our in-stock items ship by the next business day.

Thanks to all who replied....I think I'm going to get the Ashley Express with the standard size tritium front site. This will be a good combo on my Para Ord. P-12.
