As if I was not fed up enough with the AP

They take the 9/11 comission finding that Hussein was not directly involved with the 9/11 attack and twist it into "No link between Iraq and Al-Queda"

Like if they keep saying it it will become true

From a Nov. 1998 (Clinton) Justice department release

4. Al Qaeda also forged alliances with the National Islamic Front in
the Sudan and with the government of Iran and its associated terrorist
group Hezballah for the purpose of working together against their
perceived common enemies in the West, particularly the United States.
In addition, al Qaeda reached an understanding with the government of
Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on
particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al
Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq.

One invasion at a time...or two -Iraq/ Afghanistan

And please...the "war for oil" theme just reinforces my already low opinion of the media.

I was kidding. Oil may be a factor, but not the only -- or biggest -- one (far easier ways to get it). I think the opportunity to try to set up a friendly Muslim nation, combined with bad intel on the WMDs, were far more likely a catalyst.

It does look bad to John Q. Doe, though:

"We're there because of the WMDs."
"There aren't any."
Well, actually we're there because of the Saddam/Osama connection."
"There isn't one."
"Well, uh..."

...etc
