Armscor model 206 good deal or junk?

Was looking into a cheap ccw for when I have to work in rough parts of the city and stumbled upon a armscor model 206 snub nose. Any one have any luck with one of these? I can pick one up for around 200 bucks is it worth it or is it junk? I read mostly positive things about the gun other then the finish being ugly and crappy. I'm not looking for a beauty contest winner just a reliable gun. I won't be shooting this gun all the time just enough practice to feel comfortable with the gun to carry it with me from time to time. It found it works with cold d frame grips and speed loaders so that's a plus. So if anyone has any luck or lack there of with this gun please let me know.

I looked at them at the range I'm a member of. They don't look or feel too bad. Guy told me they sell a bunch of them and don't have any problems from them.

I wouldn't buy one because I've got several other 38/357 revolvers, but if I needed a gun and didn't want to spend a bunch of money, I suspect they'd work.

(I also remember when people said RIA's, 1911's were junk.)

Thanks I heard mostly positive things. I think I might pick one up. For only 200 I could get it, a bunch of ammo new grips and a few speed loaders without feeling like I broke the bank.

It's on my short list. In fact, I already bought a set of Pachmayr Compacts and a Wolff hammer spring for one. Just waiting on the right time.

I currently own one and it shoots great. I haven't had any problems to date. It's a bit hefty, but I like bit of weight in a snub nose revolver. Only other downside is that it's not very pretty, but for a good quality revolver that goes bang every time, I could care less what it looks like.

I have the 200 and the 206, as others have mentioned its not pretty, its heavy but just like Hi Points they go bang every time you pull the trigger.

Depending on your hand size you might look at Pachmayr grips for it.

Armscor = Rock Island Armory.

Had one for a good number of years. Went bang every time. As accurate as any snub I'd own. I like it because it's a 6-shot snub instead of just 5.

As someone else brought up, its made by RIA so I would probably trust it after a couple of hundred rounds.

As for the looks, its like someone wanted to make a Colt Detective Special clone, but didn't quite have the machinery to make a identical looking clone. I find the use of the Colt looking cylinder release amusing.

My fiance bought one earlier this year. So far it's been a great little gun. The aftermarket grips are a must in my opinion. My only complaint is that they're not +p rated. But for her it should be plenty. Just my .02

It's actually the opposite; RIA is made by Armscor. Armscor is one of the main suppliers to the Philippine military, and they have a huge state-of-the-art plant on Luzon.

Virtually every security guard I saw there was armed with either an Armscor revolver, 1911 style auto or pump shotgun. Every legitimate business has at least one armed guard at the door; Many of the larger businesses have several, and the malls have dozens, all armed.

On further investigation, they appear to be Colt revolver clones or very close.
Unlike some off brand models, at least the internals won't be a mystery.
