Armscor m206

The couple I've seen looked like interesting little guns, but I don't know how well they'd hold up to a lot of shooting. They didn't feel as solid as a Ruger, S&W, or Taurus.

People have asked Armscor directly about the M200 series revolvers. "Not +P rated" might be a bit of an overstatement, but Armscor's own correspondence has always been that their design and metallurgy is insufficient for a steady diet of +P. They won't blow up. They will shoot loose or break.

In terms of ruggedness, I wouldn't consider that promising.

Here is a thread on that subject at Armscor's own forums with feedback from Armscor and forum Admins: http://armscor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=revolverstalk&action=display&thread=1110

I bought one last year to use as a toss around, don't care if it gets scratched up truck, snake shot fishing gun.
I haven't shot it a lot but I actually like it. I keep it loaded with hardcast handloads just below +P levels except when I 'm headed through the thick grass then it gets a couple of rounds of snake shot.

For a low cost gun it has a surprisingly good DA trigger. Locks up tight. Accuracy is decent.

I would pick it over a Taurus. But that's just my opinion.

Rather than start a new thread I thought somebody could give a quick answer to my questions here. One, how does the finish hold up on the m206? From the pictures it looks parkerized, but people say its blued. How bad are the grips? I really like the look of the grips it comes with, and would honestly hate to replace them. This one is for the guys who have shot it a lot, how well does it withstand a steady diet of 38's. I want this mainly for a snub nose to practice a lot with, and maybe carry for snakes in the woods. I hear the sight picture is actually very respectable. Lastly how's the double and single action compared to a smith and Wesson, or colt?

I don't know what the finish is. I don't think it's Parkerized. I think of it as black oxide, which may be what you get when using some types of bluing over a matte surface. I can't tell you how it holds up because I don't carry mine a lot. However, I do have a Rock Island (Armscor) 9mm 1911 with what appears to be the same finish, and that holds up moderately well. Where I get small windows of bare metal at high-wear points, I just touch up with cold blue.

The grips are too small. I don't have large hands, and for me it's a 2-finger hold. See photos in this review -- I'd say that covers it pretty well, and as suggested in that review I have now equipped mine with Pachmayrs.

I can't help you here, either. I don't regard a snubnose revolver as a firearm you practice with a lot. IMHO you shoot it enough to know that it works, and you carry it.

Correct.

Equal to or better than both (out of the box). Infinitely better than a Taurus revolver out of the box.

Checked out a M200 the other day at the LGS.

Instead of Armscor, they are now marketed under the "Rock Island Armory" name.

The finish on the one I looked at didn't look like the Parkerized finish I have seen on them in the past. The finish was a matte black.
