Armed and Dangerous in Iowa

I am a 21 year old college student in Iowa attempting to get my bachelor degree and become a law enforcement agent (federal hopefully). Im very libertarian, do not like the republican nor the democrat party. Strict believer in the constitution and of course the 2nd amendment.

My collection is small at the moment, it consists of only 2 weapons hoping to add 2 more at least by 2012. My first handgun was the Glock 17, obtained because I believe Glock is the best and most reliable handgun one can get especially for the price. My second gun is an HK USP Compact, also in 9mm. Obtained because I love HK and their designs, and I also believe HK to be of the highest quality gun one can buy with money. The HK USP Compact is my carry gun and I will be getting my carry permit soon. I also have some Smith and Wesson .22 revolvers but I keep them back home with the shotguns and rifles.

I would love to add to my collection a 1911 (Kimber, Colt, or Springfield), another HK (I'm eyeing the expensive MK23 but will probably get settle for the USP Tactical), maybe a Sig or Jericho (i like cowboy bebop)

I have tons of shooting experience despite living in a college town, I have shot everything from Smith and Wesson 4506 .45's to Magnum Research Desert Eagles in .44. 9mm is so far my favorite round to shoot, followed by .45s although I haven't acquired my own .45 because they are so damn expensive to shoot.

There you have it excited to be on the forums, heres my armory

Would love to see everybody on the forums collections as well, feel free to post them in this thread

It's a start!

In a few years down the road, you will find it interesting to go back and read you old posts, to see how your ideas change......

Good luck on the LE career!

Welcome to the Forum and good luck with your career goals. Having experience with firearms certainly cannot be a hindrance in pursuit of your career but as a former Federal Agent, I can tell you that brain power weighs in pretty heavily when applying and working the job. Concentrate on that education, keep yourself in good physical condition, stay out of trouble, and have lots of fun shooting as much as time and finances will allow. Best of luck.

The pink thing is an eraser on my desk

To 45Gunner, thanks for the welcome! I'm not expecting to be a federal agent and engage in thousands of shootouts, lol... I am an intellectual type myself, and I find myself seeing things that other people miss, that is why i want to be an federal officer.

What kind of weapons do you own 45Gunner? And what did you carry during your career?

And it is undoubtedly a tactical eraser. Scribbles beware!

Seriously, though, welcome to The Firing Line, and good luck with your education and career.

Dangerous to whom? That's certainly not the attitude I'd like to see in a law enforcement person. I've gone armed for decades and NEVER considered myself dangerous to anyone unless I was threatened.

Armed and Dangerous in Iowa + I am a 21 year old college student in Iowa attempting to get my bachelor degree and become a law enforcement agent (federal hopefully). = Scary:eek::eek::D

You put it out there (Online), I didn't.

Now go get your G.E.D., and apply for Los Angeles, or Las Vegas LEO job.

And stop eating so much corn.

Seriously, good luck.

Oh my God, you are from Iowa and you have guns, so am going to guess you are white. According to the latest Homeland Security video, you are probably a domestic terrorist.;)

Enjoy them, guns are so addicting. I started with a .22 pistol, and now I have a whole safe full of shotguns, rifles and pistols, and I am an NRA member. I wonder what Homeland Security would think of me? Did I mention I am a lawyer? So that means I am probably up to no good.:D

pssh combat tupperware... get yourself a nickel plated sissy pistol. Or at least something all steel with some classy wood on it. :D;) plastic...

These made me smile

I also believe HK to be of the highest quality gun one can buy with money.
Why? I'm curious?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! gag.

(i like cowboy bebop)

:D:D:D

Im just having a bit of fun. welcome to TFL! May your visits be filled with angry arguments and gibberish. its what we are here for.

Welcome fellow Iowan

Enjoy this forum. It is very informative. I do have to agree with one of the other posters. You need something shiney in your collection besides ammo. Good luck on your carrer path.

Jake,

I notice that you attend the University of Iowa.(Gotta love Iowa City...the Athens of the West.) I attended the "U" during the "glory days" of the 1960's and 70's and as a "gun totin'" Iowa graduate (M.A. and Ph.D), I hope that you pick up a bit of maturity before you graduate. There's a whole lot more to to being a federal law enforcement officer than a keen interest in guns. Nothing wrong with being a "gun nut". I would imagine that all forum participants are. I suggest that you concentrate on being a "responsible gun nut".

I wonder what the "U" of Iowa thinks about you listing our "U" e-mail address on a "gun nut" website. If the "U" is like it was in the "glory days", it still leans quite a bit to the "left". :D

Oh, real Iowegians like blue steel, wood and gun leather. Better add a little to your "armory". Whatever, Good luck.

Tom

p.s. A friend of mine who was an FBI agent (Not an Iowa graduate, by the way.) spent several weeks several weeks at Wounded Knee in 1973. http://www.usmarshals.gov/history/wounded-knee/index.html According to him it was not a heck of a lot so fun. He is not a "gun nut". A gun was simply one of his "tools". Law enforcement requires a whole lot of patience.
