I have been shopping 7.62/.308 AR-type rifles. I've looked at DPMS, CMMF and a couple of others. So far, I think the Armalite AR-10A4 appeals to me the most.

I'm curious if anyone has any experience with them? I've inspected Armalite M-15s and thought they were very nice. If so, thoughts?
I'm also wondering about a few things. Maybe someone here can answer these questions:
1) The AR-10A4 has Armalite's "mid length" gas system. Is "mid length" a standard measure among AR builders? I'd like to change out hand guards and install Magpul MOE mid length hand guards. Will they fit?
2) The AR-10 has a rail on the gas block for mounting a front site. This rail is a bit lower (.398 inches) than the rail on the receiver. Does anyone know of a spacer that I can put on the gas block so I can avail myself of the plethora of AR sites that have to be mounted on the same plane?
3) I've also thought about using an Armalite AR-10 Detachable Front Sight Assembly that is designed to mount on the gas block. The sight is 1.530 inches high. It's designed for use with the carry handle with integral rear sight. But I am wondering if there are any flip up rear sights that I can use with this front sight? And also, I don't know how the 1.530 inch measurement is achieved. 1.530 over the center of the bore? Above the gas block rail? Any insight would be appreciated.
