Please send all Arizona DGU stories to

cd@LIBERTYHAVENRANCH.COM

The short version: Alan Korwin, Jerod Tufte, and CD Tavares are putting together a paper for the Goldwater Foundation for publication on the tenth anniversary of Arizona CCW.

We already have a list of defensive gun uses (DGUs) in Arizona that made
the newspaper.

We'd also like to have some examples of DGUs that did not. Here are the
criteria:

1) MUST HAVE BEEN in Arizona or on an Arizona license.

2) Must have involved a carried firearm (not a gun in your home, a rifle
off your truck's gun rack, etc.)

3) We would really prefer a concealed firearm carried on a CCW. We'll take
an open carry (hip or car) incident if that's what you have, but we're
really looking for CCW cases.

4) Incidents of defense against animals (non-hunting) are also suitable.

Along with DGU's, we would like to hear from people who may have found
themselves in situations where if they had been unarmed they would have
taken action A, but since they were armed they took preferable action B
instead. I'm not just talking about taking on a mugger beating up a little
old lady, but even something as common as stopping near a broken-down
motorist and offering to call a tow truck, or a person acting strangely and
offering to call a paramedic, accepting a job in a neighborhood or line of
work you wouldn't have considered if unarmed, etc.

Your name and identifying details will be kept confidential if you wish.

If you have such a story, give us some brief details, and please try to include
1) the type of gun
2) the method of carry
3) the distance involved in the incident
4) type of crime deterred
5) location of incident
6) if no police report, reason why

If your incident is chosen for publication, we will ask you to provide us a
signed and notarized statement attesting to the truth and accuracy of your
report. So please don't make up something you think would make me happy!

Thanks.
