Arizona Gun Laws?

I am planning to retire in about five years. My wife and I are starting to look at possible retirement locations. Our local newspaper recently ran a travel article about a small town area in Arizona.

Can someone tell me anything about the gun laws in Arizona, particularly the CCW laws? Thanks.

Open carry state. CCW cost about $80 for 16 hour class, $50 to DPS for "background" check, and is good for 4 years.

Most, if not all, government buildings prohibit any kind of carry.

There are some convaluted laws, but for the most part is carry friendly.

Check out this thread if you have not already.

State law give gubmint buildings the authority to "check" your weapon during your visit. Some jurisdictions follow the law better than others. I check mine at the Superior court building everytime I go for jury duty.

Bob, pick up a copy of 'The Arizona Gun Owner's Guide' from http://www.gunlaws.com/agog.htm . Best resource I know of for AZ gun law info. Cheap, too.

All in all, Arizona is still a great state for the RKBA and freedom. And, we need more 'right thinking' people like you. ;) C'mon down ... you can help us hold off the liberals that leak over occasionally from CA. ;)
