Arisaka 99 Triger Pull

Earlier this year I nearly missed a doe while deer hunting because my 7.7 has a trigger pull of 247 lbs. so I had to do something even if it was wrong. I started by polishing all the trigger parts till they looked like chrome but it didn't help much, I even tried oil. I figured the worst I could do was have to buy another trigger if I really screwed things up, so I beveled the top 1/16 to 1/8 in. of the trigger rocker were it meats the bolt by 2 or 3 degrees and re polished it. After I put it together I was amazed with the results. I had a very smooth trigger with maybe a 3 lb. pull. I used a dremel tool with a very fine rubber type grinding wheel and then a polishing wheel with polishing compound. Just remember to take very small steps or you may end up with a hair trigger.

Check for sear reset. Cock the gun, put the safety on, and pull the trigger hard. Then without touching the trigger, release the safety. If the striker drops, you messed up and have a dangerous gun. If not, good hunting!

Thanks Jim . Tried the safety as per your instructions and everything works fine but I still have my original problem that I had before I started to mess with this rifle, maybe you can give me some help! I just can't seam to get that 14 pointer to step into my sights broadside and hold still. Any suggestions? Maybe I should go sit in the woods to ponder this dilemma.

Just show him one of those nice broadside pictures in the hunting magazines, so he will know what is expected of him.
