Argument against gun registration?

Can anyone direct me to some good essays/arguments about gun registration. Also, what countries have no right to bear arms? I would assume the communist countries like N. Korea, China, Cuba? Any others? Thanks

Germany had a gun registration movement before Hitler, who quickly implemented it as a crime control measure when he assumed power.

Wife's aunt by marriage was born into a large Jewish family in Berlin in 1928. She escaped from Birkenau in 1944 by being emiciated enough to slip between the electric wires on the stockade.

She has some good input on what it's like to live where the govt decides who may possess the means of defense, and who may not, and who has those means at the moment.

After a lifetime of service, if the Govt does not trust me with my guns, why should I trust the Govt with theirs?....

An excellent book on just this subject is Lethal Laws available from JPFO www.jpfo.org It covers 9 massacres occuring in the 20th century that were all preceeded by gun registration then confiscation. Over half have occured since WW 2. I have the statistical facts from the book. If you'd like a rundown of the figures e-mail me - gdoan@iquest.net :)

Thanks, fellas, for all the feed back. This gives me something to chew on. I had a dialogue going with a guy on an ag forum about the "gun problem." If we can articulate our position well and with grace, we may be able to counter the media propaganda out there, and, maybe even win a few people over the the Consitutional way.

Dave, if you could interview your wife's aunt and get her story on paper, please do. If you don't want to write the final version alone several forumites would probably be glad to help. I would, though there are much better writers here.

I wish so much that I had gotten my great-grandfather's life story down before he died. I was a stupid teenager who thought his stories, told over and over, were boring. The man was one of the first farmers in Illinois to take a chance on a funny Chinese crop called a "soybean," and the two or three of them, near Decatur, IL, ended up founded a huge ag industry that now runs much of Illinois in one form or another. I've done a couple of really bad things in my life and dismissing that old man's stories was probably the worst. The only thing that makes it any better is that I was respectful to him and I listened, sort of, but he deserved more than that.

Can you imagine what it'll feel like if your wife's aunt dies and HER story is forgotten? Sorry to get like that on the forum but please think about it. I'm feeling pretty low right now so I'm going to head over to my meeting.

Keiller TN,

It's not an argument for or against gun control. It's just something to show how Americans feel about gun registration. I think you will be surprised that 73% favor it in 2000 while 84% were in favor of it back in 1938. This 73% is lower than it's been in the last ten years. The percentage has gotten smaller since Clinton took office <cool>.

It seems that fewer Americans want gun registration. Check out this Gallup poll for all the details:

Gwinny, she doesn't talk about it much. There's some things written down, but they won't be seen while she's alive.

When the German Govt offered reparations, she refused them, saying no amount of blood money could make her forgive, and she never could forget.

My Mom would have grown up in her village and married somebody else other than my Father. And my father would have grown up on his farm and married somebody other than my Mother. And I would not exist.

Part of the reason why my Uncle and Grandmother were killed was because they didn't have any guns to shoot back at the Nazi when they were trying to escape. All they had were farm tools which isn't much good against a rifle several feet away.
