Are you much more accurate with 5" vs 4"?

I have owned a Glock 19 and Glock 17 before. I didn't spend that much time trying to determine if the 5" barrel made a difference. I don't own either one right now. I do own a Walther PPQ 4". I love it. I'm wondering if I should pick up a 5" model for the range. Like most people, I want to smoke all my buddies when we hit the range. So, do you find that the 5" barrel with longer sight radius noticeably improves your accuracy over a 4" of the same model?

I own both the regular and five inch PPQs. I bought the five inch, because I liked the four inch one so much, I am not getting rid of either. One is for the holster, one for the range. I like the longer sight radius and the heft of the five inch.

I have a G19 and a G34 that I like well enough, but they don't get used a lot any more.

I have a Glock 23 with a 4" barrel and I can beat most of my buddies that have longer barrels. It all comes down to practice. My dad has the full frame 40, I think it's the 19, with a 5" barrel and I almost can't hit anything more than 10 yards away because the extra length makes the muzzle dip more than what I'm used to compensating for. When I switch to my pistol though, I out shoot him almost every time because I practice with my pistol more often than he practices with his

I frequently shoot the full size Glock 17 and the compact Glock 19. I do not shoot noticeably better with either gun, but I only go out to 25 yards. There may be some advantage to the longer barrel at greater distance.

Yes , long range is helped by a longer sight radius. A heavier gun [especially tha barrel ] minimizes movement so that helps too.

In theory a longer barrel with a slightly longer sight radius should be more accurate. But I don't shoot a G-17 a bit better than the G-19. Gave the G-17 to my son when he moved out and bought a 2nd G-19 to replace it. I do shoot either the G-19 or G-17 very slightly better than the even smaller G-26, but all 3 are acceptable.

Not much but if you get beat by very little then it might have be the difference between winning and loosing

If I am more accurate with a 5" vs a 4", the difference is so minimal as to be almost incomprehensible. If I really milk it, and shoot slowly, I can tell a difference, but only then.

The difference in feel, and carrying, much less concealing, between the two, is very immediate.

Going from a 3 in. to a 5 in. yes there's a definite benefit. But from a 4 to a 5 I doubt you're really gonna notice.

Since the 3" was mentioned I'll ask. What about the SA EMP? Many people rave about how accurate they shoot it. Out to 25 yards can anyone comment on their experience shooting the EMP vs a 4" or 5" 1911?
The EMP feels SOOOOoo good in my hand. It temps me but I don't want to sacrifice accuracy (my ability to shoot it accurately) under 25 yards.

For me it's the mistakes that make a huge difference, often with my old EMP (now belongs to a good friend) or my officer's 45 when I do my part there's not a lot of difference, I've shot some great groups with them. But when I make a mistake it's much worse a woops with a 5" gun that slips out into the 9 ring might be in the 8 ring with a 3.5" or 4" gun. It doesn't take much of a woops to make a shot that cuts a scoring ring to have a smidge of white rear it's ugly head.
