Are we moving toward a more violent society?

An economics professor this morning on a news show described how 80% of his college sophmore students believe it is the federal government's obligation to provide them with free health care and tuition, with a job, with a down payment on a home, and with a comfortable retirement. Even if every "rich" person were taxed at 100% of their income it would be impossible to meet these expectations. What will happen when these young people discover that their expectations have no chance of being fulfilled? Is the Occupy movement an early reflection of this entitlement mentality? Will we see more people feeling justified in stealing what belongs to others so that they can achieve their goals without earning them, and will we see society becoming increasingly violent and hostile? Our 2nd Amendment rights might become even more necessary if we move toward anarchy and lawlessness. I truly fear for the future of our great nation and for how my children and grandchildren will be living in the near future.

How is more government control, more taxation and more regulation a move toward "lawlessness"?

We were all screwed from the first time grocery stores became a common place for people to obtain their food. Every time I enter a grocery store, I ask myself "is this really what we've been reduced to - buying boxed and packaged food out of a dressed-up food warehouse?" We've all been conditioned to let others control how we live. Guns aren't going to save us from this, and big government is merely an obnoxious byproduct of the ridiculous society in which we live.
