I want to know if the wasr series of rifles are reliable, safe, and/or worth the money. Should I save my cash and spent it on another ak rifle? If so what?
Please give advice,stories,etc.

Paid $300 for mine (a single stack). Ground out the mag well. Added Tapco stock and forearm, and 30 round mag for another $100. $400 and change total and it has never FTF! I think they are great for the money! Good, cheap fun!

wasr-10

i bought a wasr-10 for $470 at cheaper than dirt around here thats about what they go for, maybe a little less. make sure you inspect it for front sight/gasblock cant. and other problems a quick search would turn up. my wasr-10 had a problem with the shepherds hook not being assembled correctly and the trigger pin would back out during firing, which could cause the gun to fire by itself. by that i mean without pulling the trigger. the trigger hook will not catch the hammer if the trigger pin is backing out. it happened to me was pretty scary. it was an easy fix though i simply bought and installed a retaining plate and haven't had a problem since. other then that i have had no malfunctions as regards to feeding i have about 1500 rounds through it. i also changed out the stock, pistol grip ,and muzzle break, and added a red dot not that it needs one but its easier for quick follow up shots on hogs.

i think if you can inspect it before buying it is a great firearm, but you have to stay within its accuracy and caliber restrictions i dont take shots much over 100 yards hope this helps

You can have the most expensive ak and a wasr will probably be just as accurate and reliable. It's the nature of the beast, you generally are paying for the cosmetics and the name.

They WERE when they sold brand new for like $200-$300.... now with prices reaching upwards of $400-$600 I do not personally believe they are worth the cash.

Given the price of AKM-type rifles today, a WASR-10 is a decent example of the type. Makes at least as good a Man-Barbie as a cheap AR. Dress it up in new furniture, change out all the internal parts, paint it camo, don't expect much in the way of long range accuracy and Bob's Your Uncle.

i have a waser 10, bought a year a go for $400 great rifle not a single failure of any kind, i will comment though they seem to be getting more expensive ($470) so if your gonna get one now would be the time as for the waser 10s are all older rifles and not new production and will dry up eventually, but with the waser 10s you better inspect the rifle before buying, lemons do exist among them, mine wont accept regular AK-47 mags except the two 30 rounders it came with, and the front sight alignment is an issue to most, i just got a sight tool to fix mine no big deal, but at the current an arsenal sgl-31 (ak-74) would be very economic if value is an issue, military surplus for the 5.45x39mm runs only about $0.11 a round

get one

If you want an AK type rifle, I would ge one soon. Not to get political, but we're due for some type of major anti gun legislation from the current admin.

The WASR are rough looking and coarse, stereotypical of AK in my mind.
Most run fine, and do not require the mods to correct the thumbhole stock and 10 rd shackles of their cheap predecessors .

I bought new WASR last year for $389 just to see if I was being bullheaded in my love for ARs. I still like my ARs more, but the WASR is a good cheap beater that goes bang.

i have one and it hasnt failed to feed yet, very reliable and accurate but it will never outshoot my ar...my ar has never jammed either but i guess it just depends on what you want it for..;)
if the end of the world came why not have both, for the money you cant go wrong if you need something for home defense or to throw on your back if hiking in the woods, its not dirt or rain shy so if its survival ak has it hands down, if target well ar all day. just my 2cents and i have both. if you would like to see a pic let me know il take one and post it with both in there. once you dress it up like i did it looks like a total different beast.
