are these good prices on the Ruger MKII .22LR?

I started looking around for a Ruger MKII recently. The prices at my 2 local shops were:

MKII, all stainless, slabside, 6-7/8" bull barrel, wood grips w/ thumb shelf, large "hooked" front sight, adj. rear sight: $380 NIB

MKII, blued, "tapered bull" barrel (definitely heavier than the plain tapered barrel), large hooked front sight, adj. rear sight: $298 NIB

One dealer also had the 22/45 but I didn't like the plastic grip. The grip angle, though, seems closer to the Glocks than the MKII. Is this an important issue?

From searching on TFL, these prices seem a bit high. Should I keep shopping around, or is this what I'm going to have to pay? Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

The price for the stainless is what I paid for mine from my local dealer, and yes it's just a tad high. The other price is quite a bit higher than I have seen for that pistol. The stainless model you describe comes with a scope mount and rings. If I were you, I'd go ahead and buy it from a local dealer.

The grip angle on the 22/45 matches the angle on a 1911.

You may or may not know about this site, but if not, go to http://www.gunfinder.net. Click on the "Search Inventory" button in the left column of buttons. You can then search for guns by manufacturer, caliber, type, etc. The results will appear as a table, but you can view each gun's details, MSRP and Gunfinder "cost + 10 %" price.

I have no idea if the prices are really cost + 10 %, but I have found that my best local dealers are usually anywhere from the gunfinder price to $30 over. But considering the $10 to $15 shipping plus $10 to $15 FFL transfer fee, it works out to the same or better.

I believe a local shop has the stainless slabside for $349 or $359. I know because I've been thinking of picking one up. The slabside is also drilled & tapped for scope mount. It's a fine gun. I prefer the original Ruger grip to the 22/45 model.

Glock-A-Roo: I paid under $100 new for my Mark 1, blued, 6" tapered barrel in the mid 1970s. It still shoots 1/2" at 50 feet! Still using the 4 original 9 round mags, boy do I love that pistol!!! :)

Greetings Glock-A-Roo; I puchased the Ruger
MK-II KMK-512 bull barrel (stainless) in Oct.
98, for the small sum of $289.88 + 8% sales
tax.

I am only curious, but is it true that people who like Glocks like Rugers too?
It certainly follows to my way of thinking.

There are lots of models of Rugers. The "slabside" is the KMK-678GC - It should also come with a set of rings for a scope. I bought one of these and the prices do vary a bit depending on when the dealer bought his for inventory and how much they want to mark them up. $350 would be an excellent price $380 so-so. I paid $365 at a local dealer a few months ago. I have had no problems with this gun and it shoots great. I bought a Swift 2x scope for it and can plink all day long cheap! I love .22's

That's about what they cost at the gunshop I looked at them in also. I wound up getting a used s&w for a lot less but still would like the ruger!
