Are there clips that allow a .38 to fire 9mm

My mother has a older .38 S&W lady smith, I don't belive it is +p rated so that makes finding SD ammo hard to find.

all i have is some reloads bought at a gun show, 125 grain HP's but when i tested them a few weeks a go, 15 rounds 3 would not fit into the cylinder and 2 did not go off, i even snaped 1 of those 2x's.

so right now it is loaded with 130 grn fmj winchester wightbox ammo.

so i am wandering if there are clips that will allow this pistol to fire 9mm ammo. since hp's are easy to get in those. and if so is the 9mm the same as a.38+P in pressure, i have some 38+P hps but i am worried about it being too much for the pistol.

Short answer, no. The cylinder/star can be modified. You would be putting 355 rounds throgh a 357 barrel though. WWB is fine for most needs. Even UMC 158 gr FMJs are OK. I do like Federal Hydra-Shok in 158 gr JHPs myself.

I hate to nag about shooting unknown reloads, but you are lucky to get off with nothing more than a couple of misfires and some improperly sized cases.
I have seen several guns taken apart by "unknown" reloads. I will not shoot any reloads other than my own. If I'm going to blow up something, at least it will be my fault.

9MM will not fit into a .38 for a reason 9MM has twice the barrel pressure of a standard .38.They to make a conversion but that is .357 and 9MM. I suggest you go to Wal-mart and buy winchester white box you can get the 100 pack for under $20:p

Your post says it's a .38 S&W. If true, it's not a .38 Special, which could be part of your problem.
Otherwise, there are several standard pressure hollowpoint .38 Special rounds on the market that would be much better than any of the bulk rate round nose or full metal jacket stuff for self-defense.
Are you not looking around? They're at any halfway decent gunshop.
Also, good advice on avoiding gunshow reloads.
How old is the gun? There were two different Ladysmith designations. Any recent Ladysmith should be able to safely handle +P .38s.

No Denis, he's saying his mom has a .38 caliber by S&W - model "Ladysmith". As the Ladysmith was never made in .38 S&W, it is obviously .38 Special.

"They do make a conversion but that is .357 and 9MM"

I would be verrry interested to obtain some information on this. Please post any links, or other info you have. Thank you!

Ruger makes a Blackhawk SA in .357 and 9MM by switching out the cylinder. I don't have one but do own the .45ACP and .45colt conversion if you like single action they are great guns the 9MM????????????????? www.ruger.com
