Are there any government agencies still using the 10 mm?

Buzz gun boogie, FBI SWAT..

I'm not aware of any federal LE agencies in 2010 using 10mm pistols but I read the FBI regional field offices have SWAT units that may still have the HK MP10 SMGs. This is a select fire buzz gun that was made in 10mm in the 1990s. I think either the FBI or the HK law enforcement div converted these weapons to .40S&W but they kept the name MP10.
The FBI or other DoJ spec ops units(ATF, USMS-SOG) may have started to upgrade to the UMP sub-guns in .45acp or .40S&W.

ps; Neither Remington or Winchester LE sites list any 10mm loads.

As far as I know, they all wimped out. FBI went to the .40 Short&Weak, Secret Service went to the .357 SIG, military still uses the 9mm except in some special operations units who might use .45 ACP. Border patrol uses either .40 or .357 SIG, not sure which

I'm a huge 10mm fan but have to admit that for 2 legged vermin it really offers no real world advantages over rounds such as the 40, 45, or 9mm. It is at it's best as an outdoorsmans pistol round where there is the possibility of SD from both humans and 4 legged predator attack. That is the role my G20 serves, and very well at that. Unless I'm camping/hiking where black bears live I carry either a 9mm or 45.

The Kentucky State Police only dropped the 10mm 2 or 3 years ago. They may have been the last large agency still using the 10mm. I wouldn't be surprised if it is still used in some small departments or by individual officers where allowed.

The FBI is still using MP5-10's for both field agents and SWAT trained agents. Non-SWAT use MP5-10's with fixed stocks and two-shot burst capability in addition to single fire. SWAT has collapsible stocks and full auto capability. The FBI never converted these over to .40 S&W. The 10mm S&W 1076's issued to FBI personnel were taken up several years ago and replaced with Glock 40's.

The FBI is not going to use the .40 cal HK UMP: it failed the catastrophic failure test. Nothing wrong with the gun, just protocol. The test involves dropping a 9mm cartridge down the barrel and then firing a .40 through the obstructed barrel. The polymer UMP failed catastrophically. This test came about because the FBI carries both .40 cal and 9mm weapons currently, and such an incident has happened several times with the HK MP5-10. The MP5-10 can take it with only a bulged barrel and once the barrel is replaced, it can be put back into service.

The Monster Control Bureau uses it

Lol, sorry, just kidding.

No feds I don't think. Largest I can think of, It seems like I heard that a Montana PD uses it yet? I'm not sure, maybe just scuttle.....

As of last year, the Baytown, TX Police Department was still issuing 10mms. I believe they use a loaded down version, sort of a cross between .40 S&W & 10 MM.

I don't give the FeeBees very high marks in the smarts department when it comes to firearms, but then that's just my opinion. I really like my USP .40 except for the magazine release, I wish it was a button.

PD in Alabama

I met the chief of a small dept here in AL about 2 yr ago, he was carrying a glock 20 and advised his officers were doing same. I got his card and was shopping ammo for him, but lost the card. I was under the impression they were very small 6-10 officers at best.

The Nuge, 10mm duty pistols...

Rocker, hunter, author, and reserve sheriff's deputy Ted Nugent carrys & endorses the full power 10mm. I think he uses a custom Glock 20 & CCs a 29 pistol ;).
About 10 years ago, I worked with a federal sworn LEO(083 police), USMC military police veteran & part time gun shop employee who left federal service to work full time as a police LT for a upscale suburb near Pittsburgh PA. Pete used a Glock 20 10mm with full power JHP rounds on duty. He told me he could get 300/300 quals with it, ;). The USMC veteran/police LT had 20/10 eyesight too. He always liked Glocks and the 10mm caliber.

I saw a LNIB S&W 1006 10mm for the CA Highway Patrol online that I'd snag if I had the $$$. I'm not a big 10mm fan for a # of reasons but it is very powerful for a pistol cartridge.
