Are the lines becoming clearer, or am I just more focused?

I browse World Net Daily about every day, but today there seemed to be more than the usual articles and letters that state that the sides are becoming more polarized.

Is this another wave? If it is, is it higher than the last?

Is it a steady trend or just a passing fad?

Have you noticed this resolve elswhere?

Even on this board it seems to be taking place...

Here are the links:

I hope I'm not infringing on a copyright by doing this. If so DC, delete the article, but preserve the URL.

Thanks.

Recent school shootings have lured ill-informed Americans into a war on our Second Amendment guarantees, led by the nation's tyrants and their useful idiots. Before we fall prey to their agenda, let's review why, in their own words, the Framers saw the "right of the people to keep and bear arms" so important that they made it second in our Bill of Rights.

George Washington: "Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence."

Thomas Jefferson: "And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. ... The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

Richard Henry Lee: "To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."

Alexander Hamilton (Federalist No. 28): "If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is no recourse left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all forms of positive government." And in Federalist No. 46, Hamilton said, "The best we can hope for concerning the people at large is that they be properly armed."

James Madison (Federalist, No. 46): Predicted that encroachments by the federal government would provoke "plans of resistance" and an "appeal to a trial of force."

Tench Coxe: "Whereas civil rulers, not having their duty to the people duly before them, may attempt to tyrannize ... the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms."

Liberals try to obfuscate the clear language of the Framers by saying the Second Amendment applies only to regulated militias, of course, regulated by government. George Mason settled that issue by asking and answering, "Who are the militia? They consist of the whole people, except a few public officers."

There are many other statements by our Founders about our right to keep and bear arms. Reading what they had to say points out clearly that the Second Amendment wasn't written into our Bill of Rights so that we could go duck and deer hunting or shoot clay pigeons over the weekend. The Second Amendment was given to us as protection against tyranny by the federal government and the Congress of the United States.

Who are the strongest supporters of the attack on our Second Amendment rights? They're the liberals in and out of Congress, who want more and more government control over our lives. These people want to be secure in the knowledge that they can encroach upon our liberties and face no prospect of armed resistance. These people don't have the courage to seek a constitutional amendment repealing the Second Amendment, so they want to eat away at it piecemeal in the name of fighting crime and protecting children. That's why the Littleton, Colo., massacre is so appealing to them; it gives them cover.

Their ultimate agenda is gun confiscation. Their strategy is akin to the cigarette-Nazi's strategy: start out with reasonable demands and then escalate. Initially, all the cigarette-Nazis wanted was no smoking sections on airplanes. Then they escalated to no smoking on planes altogether, then in airports, restaurants, workplaces and now even outside. Had they made their full agenda known at the beginning, they wouldn't have gotten anything.

I don't know about you, but if you ever hear that Williams' guns have been confiscated, you'll know that Williams is dead.[/quote]

John...
RE: copyright infringement....I don't believe so, you give proper citation and this is a non-profit operation.

As per topic...
I've felt the same but, have marveled at either the arrogance or supreme stupidity of the gun-grabbers. We aren't the problem and have never been the problem. To me it makes no sense whatsoever to start a fight with people who cause no problems but, historically will fight like demons when molested.
I believe that had they waited a few more generations they'd have accomplished their purpose without a squawk....they have misjudged and if they press it will get real real ugly. One thing that I do wonder about, as I honestly don't attribute stupidity to them...and that is why is now so important? What is on the horizon that we are in the way of?

Short answer to a really complex situation...

The polarization is there and growing.

It's a direct result of two terms under a gun grabbing President (who made no secret of his intentions) and a congress unwilling, or unable, to exercise independent thought and reason. Either that or they have been hypnotized by Clintons strange powers of persuasion.

The ONLY reason we have had to tolerate this mini-dictator in the White House is a booming economy that he claims credit for and a money loving public unwilling to change anything that might upset the good times. It's a pity!

The good times are headed for the crapper! Lets see how Bill manages to blame some outside force for the decline. His popularity will fade and the sheeple will fall out from under his spell and finally notice what he's done. Then all hell will break loose and a political and moral revolution will be at hand. With the American people polarized the way we are, it could get ugly.

"What are we in the way of?"
Bill Clinton cant be president again. He is pushing One-World Government so that he can be ruler of the world!
Look at the changes since he has been president.

DC,

I'm sorry to disagree with you...we ARE the problem. The issue is not guns. The issue is freedom or tyrranny. To those who desire tyranny, private ownership of guns is a big, big problem. The people who honestly believe that gun control, gun banning, and gun confiscation will usher in the millenium are the dupes of those whose aim is tyranny.

Things are polarizing very quickly, much faster than I had ever expected. It's not only guns; it's a lot of things. Any thinking American who pays attention to the news and knows a little history realizes this is not the govt. we were promised. Unconstitutional gun laws, no-knock searches, property confiscation, "hate crimes"=thought crimes, roving wiretaps, treason at the highest levels, brutal force for minor offences, elections being bought and sold etc. etc. You get the picture.
Most of the country falls into three groups: Those who see what is happening and are beginning to say "not if I can help it", those who are blissfully unaware (sheeple), and those who seek a socialist utopia.
I'm pretty sure most of us fall into the first group. The only thing we need at this point are leaders. There are people on this board who will make excellent leaders when the time comes. The time will come. The short time that I have been on TFL there are people that I have developed a great deal of respect for. Sometimes I wish all of us lived a little closer together, I'd love to sit down in front of a campfire, crack a cold one and discuss things.

Walkin' Man,

Several newsgroups have annual get-togethers. Alt.tasteless has the Squickfest (don't ask), alt.peeves has the Peevefest, soc.singles has the Boink (again, don't ask). Personally, I'd love to see a TFL thing.

But, and here comes the paranoia, think about why flag officers don't all hang out together. One grenade in the right place, y'know.

If 1400 shooters all got together, think of what the BATF could do. Not would, mind you, but could. They could easily knock us down for conspiracy, illegal assembly, "assault weapons", etc.

After the revolution, look me up. :)

Meanwhile, back on topic, I've noticed the polarization as well, and have mentioned it to a fellow TFLer in email. The talk at gun shops and ranges has gotten steadily more paranoid and hostile (not towards other gunners, of course), and the "cold dead fingers" cliché is popping up more frequently than ever.

How does it become a man to behave toward this American government to-day?
I answer, that he cannot without disgrace be associated with it.

The frog has realized that the water is gettin' pretty hot!
I think part of this has to do with the coming millenium. An awful lot of people are looking at it as some sort of major turning point for humanity. I think the antis may be afraid that if gun ownership survives past 2000, they may never be able to stop it. Possibly it damages their vision of what mankind is supposed to become. You know the one, a peaceful utopia where there is no crime, no war, no hunger, no disease, no independent thought and no freedom.
