Just wondering if anyone had any experiance with the fit and function of Orlite mags in 223. If so, would you please comment about them ..Thanks for any replys. John.

John..........Orlites are very reliable and durable. They are my prefered mag of choice after USGI. I have never had a problem with orlites and have been using them for about 2 years. One note, if you own a Bushmaster AR you will need to buy Orlites with a mold number of 21 and up. There have been feeding problems in the Bushys with the lower mold numbers. You can tell buy the mold stamp on the lower side of the mag.

I bought some used ones a while back and had some problems. They wouldn't fit in my Bushmaster, I'd get bolt over's with them and had a couple that would spit rounds out like a USA mag. I gave them to my brother and he uses them as range mags.

I bought 25 Orlites for use in BMs when I couldn't find ANY USGI mags. Thought that they'd wear out over time.

Had to thin the overinsertion ribs on every one with a dremel, about 5 minutes per magazine. The mags work fine and not one has worn out yet (I haven't even degreased the last ten yet). Same magazines work fine in a friend's Colt Sportster. Orlites don't drop free.

I'd use them for practice mags...but wouldn't feel too bad about using them for real, they've been entirely reliable thus far.

I'll back up the comment about Thermolds. I have no experience with the Orlite but have heard a few negative comments about them (I think related to the Bushmaster as stated above). My wife and I have had zero problems with the Thermolds in our SP1s.

Orlites will function perfectly in Bushamasters if you buy the correct ones.... Mold #21 and up for Bushy's. Easy as pie.
