Are Magnetic/Laser Bore Sights Accurate?

My brother and I have a dozen or so rifles and pistols that have been packed away for years that we need to re-sight already mounted scopes or mount new scopes to and I wonder if the magnetically held laser bore sights work well to rough in a scope? The ads claim that they are more accurate than the arbor mounted type. Your advise please!

They are just as good as the old arbor-style bore sighters, and easier to use. The main issue with bore-sighting is that just because you have the reticle centered in the grid doesn't mean you are going to hit the target where you want to hit it.

I've used both on a number of guns.

They work but on bright days it can be a little tough to see the dot on paper.
Just don't expect them to get it perfect. Nothing is a substitute for shooting to establish/verify a rifle's zero.
