Are guns illegal in luxembourg??

After seeing this hostage situation on tv with this nut in luxembourg, does anyone know if they are banned there, and where this guy got the gun???

I posted your question on a German gun board, waffen-online. A guy from Luxembourg named Marc answered.

You can read his reply yourself if you read German. The language of Luxembourg is either a dialect of German or a separate language related to German depending on whether you ask a Luxembourgois or a German.

Basically he said that you could buy most types of guns, especially long guns, with the right permit, as well as either a hunting license or two years membership in a shooting club. It sounds pretty similar to German gun laws, maybe a little looser in some ways and tighter in some ways.

Luxembourg has some of the toughest gun laws on the planet, getting authority for anything other than a .22 is basically impossible, and
getting a .22 is extremely difficult.
