Predators...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spuscg--Fishers' natural prey is porcupines, believe it or not, and porcupines, as you probably know, damage pine trees, as well as hunting cabins, outhouses, canoe paddles, and anything else which a salty hand has touched. They can be hard on hardwood trees, as well. I even once saw the remains of an aluminum sign, most of which had been chewed off by porkies, believe it or not. There were just little aluminum stars left around the bolts which had held the sign to its post.
Foresters, and others in the wood-fiber business, hate porcupines, and love fishers. So do hunting-cabin-owners.
What I'm getting at is that fishers are our friends, generally. Keep Kitty inside where she can't get at the songbirds. Outdoor cats live a danger-filled life.
