Are CZ .22s any good as these types of rifles go?

I was in one of my preferred shops today, looking at the likely cost of .22 cartridges whilst I wait for my Ruger MkIII.

In that shops, a major CZ dealer, they had a stack of bolt and semi auto .22 rifles.

One was incredibly cheap (by my reckoning)!! It was called the CZ "Farmer" or something. Others were near twice the cost.

Are they any good in terms of build quality, accuracy and reliability (shoot when you squeeze)?

Like their pistols,,,

The CZ 22 rifles are very high quality.

Their bolts rifles are considered to be some of the most accurate on the market.

They are good values, still make most with blued steel and walnut and they are generally quite accurate.

I've never had one, but CZ has a very good reputation. Most brands have people who love them and people who hate them just on general principle, but I can't recall hearing anyone bad mouth CZ - even in the heated debates that often come up on this and other forums. I believe that says something good about them.

They're not the low-priced deal they were 10 or so years ago before the Euro hammered the dollar and imported things got expensive, but yes, they're the real deal.

Back then when I was a regular on rimfirecentral, I bought a 452 American .22 WMR used, but like new and without the box, for $280 at a gun store.

There used to be wide variation in the checkering quality and wood finish, but the accuracy never seemed to be a problem, even on the least expensive models. I liked the wood on this one and the price was right.

It's not a Cooper Custom Classic, but it didn't cost $2500 either.

I have 2 cz rifles , one in 17 mach 2 and one in 17 hmr.these two rifles are verry accurate and fit and finish are as good as my 77/22 rugers. They also have very good triggers. My father saw the groups these rifles shot and had to have a pair himself. Smokey 63*

CZ .22 rifles are great. some are a little big and heavy for my taste. I have a cz452 american and a cz455 Lux both are great shooters an i never had problems with them.

The "Farmer" rilfe is the super low price version of the Cz452(i think). Its reduced to the minimum but has everything you need. My neigbhor has one for pest controll and he is very pleased with it.

The Farmer looks to be their basic 513, which doesn't have the hammer forged barrel, adjustable trigger and excellent sights of the 452. I don't know how good the 513 trigger is, but the 452 action can be sweetened up nicely and easily with an inexpensive kit, which, AFAIK, aren't compatible with the 513 action.

Looking over the specs, I'd opt for the CZ452 Trainer. Also a beech stock and more affordable than it's walnut siblings, but also has the adjustable (and tunable) trigger, and much better sights. Put a military sling on it, a 4x scope with QR rings, and you have darned near the perfect all-arounder.
