are "common" people concerned about drones?

sorry if this is a strange question. i see alot of banter on new television/radio etc, generally about localities that have made laws for/against drones, and always see a "prepper" type guy/gal's complaining about drones and that they'll shoot em down etc.

Is this really an issue for anyone, or a cause for concern? i personally have never thought much about it, besides being pretty stoked about amazon's plans to be able to get a package shipped to me with hours to minutes in the future. i for one think the future would be pretty sweet if drones dominated the mail/food delivery systems and fear not the lack of privacy unless the tech gets out of control(if a drone can see what's going on inside my home, then i will rethink my posture on the subject).

i do believe the laws need to be structured to not allow for warrantless spying on individuals with drones on their own property, and not just a "rubber-stamp" warrant procedure, but other than that, do YOU have concerns, right NOW, about drones and securing your property from them?

i was thinking about this as i stumbled upon this product........looks cool

i can see this being useful for celebrities, politicians/secret service, maybe clinics/corporations that provide very private services to people. but not me, i don't see a concern.....at least not yet, but technology can get pretty scary when it comes to our privacy.

Do you want people watching you or yours in the back yard or windows? The have no business trespassing via drone or in person.

Just a thought... I'm sure there are a few yahoos out there already figuring how to successfully mount a drone with a light polymer semi-auto (KelTec PMR-30 pops in my mind) with a trigger-pulling device... hmmmm...

Youtube. It's been done. IIRC, the kid was arrested.

Just keep in mind the people who want to regulate drones are the same ones wanting more gun regulations. Yes, there have been incidents where drones have been used inappropriately, just as guns are sometimes used inappropriately. Just like most gun owners, most drone owners use their devices correctly. Be careful of what we ask for.

I fly RC planes and drones are a problem for legitimate RC guys. Kids are flying these in the area where water bombers are trying to put out fires and the water bomber pilots are refusing to do their job for fear of a collision. My brother in law is a fireman and told me they have already heard that regs and flight training is on the way. And not just for the idiot drone pilots but for all flyers of RC models.

And to be fair I have seen youtube vids of fixed wing modelers flying way higher that they are supposed to and flying out of visual range using FPV (first person view) headsets.

As usual a few have made problems for the rest of us who fly by the rules.

There's also a craze for kidnapping flying drones. You override the original transmitter guidance auto home with a bigger transmitter & steal a couple of hundred dollars right out of the air.

What drones don't use digital receivers?

Trying to override the signal with a "bigger" receiver would be the equivalent of someone trying to "override" your phone or computer when it's connected to wifi with a bigger wifi transmitter and take control of it.

The method that Kamkar’s code uses to take over a target drone is deceptively simple. The Skyjack drone detects the wireless signal sent out by a target drone, injects WiFi packets into the target’s connection, de-authenticates it from its real controller and then authenticates it to the Skyjack drone. Kamkar then has the ability to send any commands he wants to the hijacked drone. This can all be done from the ground, as well, he said, using a normal Linux box and his code.

being digital has nothing to do with it. all that is needed is to be on the same frequency with a stronger transmitter
