Are all-weather stainless really better than blued?

I'm curious as most all weather barrels are stainless steel. Does it really hold up a lot better than good blueing?

How's the rust factor on the allweathers?

I have a Ruger Mini-14 SS folder that is kept on my sail boat along with 3 factory 30 round mags during my trips. After about 7-8 years I'm getting the mag bodies chromed due to constant rust problem but the rifle is still rust free. I clean and oil the rifle and mags frequently (about once a month) but the mags would still have rust spots. IMHO BreakFree CLP seems to be the best for preventing rust.

How easy is it to clean? I have a Ruger SP100, 5 shot 357Mag, and it's stainless steel. the powder burns on the front part of the wheel doesn't clean at all. I'm wondering if I just don't know how to clean it or what, I've tried everything on it, Hoppe's #9, CLP, Breakfree, MPro etc.. Everything. What am I doing wrong or does it just not clean?

That's why I'm concerned about stainless...

Twoblink, go to Wal-Mart and get a tube of Gunbright. (4 bucks or so) That or Flitz will take the carbon off the stainless cylinder. I apply it with a Q-tip and polish it off with a T-shirt.

twoblink: There are products to clean stainless steel guns that will easily clean the front of the cylinder. Any gun store will have them. The one i use is a cloth called EZ-Brite.

I have a ruger all-weather 77/22 and so far no rust what so ever and i have shot it in the rain quite a bit. But i clean and oil it approximatly every 100 rnds.
