Are all gun solvents safe to use on Rossi M92?

Some gun solvents say they can harm some plastics and I was concerned about the fact that the follower on my Rossi M92 is plastic. Is it made of a plastic that will resist all gun cleaners, or should I be selective on what I use?

Most solvents will be safe as long as you don't leave them on for extended periods

Many people just replace the followers with stainless steel
Winchester makes one that drops right in:

The Winchester factory 1892 follower is the stainless steel one. The yellow plastic is factory on the Rossi (and EMF, Navy Arms?) 1892 rifles and carbines.

The Winchester part was ordered from Midway for under $5 and dropped right in. No more follower hangs.

M92 is the military version, and that has specific cleaners.

Bore solvent should NEVER be used for general cleaning.
Most bore solvents are BY DESIGN to remove crud off steel,
That includes finishes.

Honestly, NON-Abrasive hand cleaner works pretty well in my lowers,
Washes out with plain hot water and cuts crud really well.
A gob of hand cleaner worked into the guts, left to soften the crud, then washed out is pretty easy, and hasn't removed the finish on anything I own yet.
