Deer/elk season start Aug 25 thru Sept 23rd both tags are either sex and wife drew deer tag then we'll buy OTC elk tags.

Anyone else hunting with a bow?

The wife and I drew Colorado archery buck mule deer too. I'm going later for elk in fourth season. It'll be much cooler than here for sure. :D

you bet

I love rifles, and love to shoot, but I am a bow-whitetail hunter first.

ALabama deer season comes in 15Oct and runs till the end of Jan. Two deer a day limit.......no kiddin!

I've bought a dozen and a half new arrows and am shooting my light bow regularlly in the yard. In search of a new bowsight for the fast, heavy bow.

Buy the end of the season, I'll have climbed 40-50 trees.....sometimes with lots of venison, others not so much. Good Lord I love it to a fault.

But lots of hot weather 'till then.

Archery elk starts for me on the 6th. Tags are OTC here. Hunting Roosevelts. Spent the last two weeks tearing the house apart looking for my archery vest that is supposed to be hanging in the closet. Finally found it where it belongs covered with a camo shirt.

We set camp up 4 days before season started and we seen couple bull elk and few bucks and couple moose and we had rain every day. Was pretty warm and full moon didn't help with my elk hunting but wife got her deer Sept 3 with 53yd shot in the heart. I got back to camp about 1pm and she was all smiles and she got it cleaned out all I had to do is up hill drag about 100yds to truck.

We packed up came home on the 4th got everything cleaned up and since ML starts today were going back up on tues and take trailer this time then do little elk hunting. Last year we seen lot of bears this year only seen one and most of the real big bucks I's seen were still high just below timberline and I had one at 42yds he was pretty close to 30" wide wish I had a tag.

Not bad for a 70yr old women 2nd year bow hunting no this 70yr man has to get an elk.

Turkey

I'll probably get a turkey tag this year to go with everything else. Turkey's on right now, and I found some, so I'm going to try with a bow.

T minus six days and counting here for bow season. Spent today making sure my kill arrows were good to go and shot a few dozen times with the practice broadheads. The wife is shooting her new crossbow this year. She out killed me last year so the gloves are off this year lol.

I made it out for opening weekend. Our season starts Aug 30 and goes to Sept 30. We were about 3-4 days to late, the Elk had vacated the area and we did not find out till after we got home that they were 3-4 draws over. I had quite the adventure doing about 4 miles and rising and loosing about 1000 feet in one day. That's a lot for a fat guy.

I'll be in the woods hoping to impale a deer on my arrow next weekend. Looking forward to it. I ran out of venison months ago...

Besides the fact that the shoulders are shot!, gator hunting is still going on so I'm occupied......but......being the GREAT guy I am......I'll be pulling double duty Friday/Saturday so the brother-in-law can go sling sharp sticks.

Of course I fully expect to be eating fried venison next week!!!

Which by the way is much better than gator and not near as good as wild pig......GOD I hope he shoots a pig instead of a deer....or maybe BOTH!

Love it! Much warmer and you don't sit in the stand shiverin like a dog crappin razor blades. I'm also an archery hunter first.

Yep, I'll be up a tree with my recurve the first Saturday in October. I actually kill a deer with it every 2-3 years. I make up any venison deficit later with muzzleloader or, this year, my new .270 (my county just liberalized the rules on rifles -- previously had to use shotgun in general season). Have a good season!

Been hunting elk the last few days. Nice to be able to hunt them within five miles of the house. The first two days I was within bow range of elk, but being able to draw without being seen, there's the rub.
