AR15 Questions

The deceased father of a friend of a friend of mine left a AR15 Sporter H Bar National match in the serial range of 070,xxx. He asked me for a fair price to try and sell it--I know nothing of this rifle or its value, any help would be appreciated.

The condition looks to be as new. It also has a red star scope (power unknown).

Sounds like a Colt pre-ban if it says AR15 Sporter. If it has either the flash suppressor or bayonet lug or both, the asking price is around $1,200-1,600 right now. If it doesn't, then it's post ban and it should go for around $800. These prices reflect the SB23 in California and Y2K panic right now.

If that red star scope is a red dot scope, then it probably doesn't have a power.

RED STAR scopes are a simple Chinese made 4 power. Compact and Rugged... Holds its Zero very well. It's a pretty good little scope.

I have never seen another type of Red Star scope.

Sometimes my red dot looks like a red star. Thought maybe somebody else had fuzzy eyes, also.
