Ar15 optics for older eyes?

I now require reading glasses, am right handed and my right eye is the weakest. I have an AR 15 with handle built into the upper. What recommendations do the experts have for me in terms of replacing handle with flat top to accomodate an optical? Also what optical would you recommend?

BTW...I'm newbie so please respond in newbie language. [:D] I don't know much about replacing parts and nomenclature. Thanks!

Old crappy eyes--me too

Old Sneaky here: My eyes are crappy, with both near and far vision lacking. I've got an AR-15 and 3 uppers--2 with carrying handles and 1 flat top and all 3 have scopes. the 2 with handles have-- a 6X32-mimi scope with mil-dots and a 3X9X40 mini with mil-dots, and the flat top has a 8X32X44 !/8MOA target dot. I also have 36X44 target cope that I sometimes switch with the other flat top scope. All my rings are Warne Quick release so i can switch them out as needed. In my opinion it isn't necessary to get rid your carry handle upper unless you absolutely have to get a flat-top, and then just get a second upper. As for scopes you can spend as little or as much as you prefer. I have had BSA and TAsco and Simmons (on the cheepo side) that are very good and Leupol and Sightron(not as cheep) that are also very good. one thing for sure is that you don't have to worry about recoil wih the Ar-15. OBTW I'm not an "Expert". Just an old retired Army m/sgt. THANX--SNEAKY
 
What distances are you shooting. If it is a distance where you can still see the target with out magnification an Eotech is a great option. If you can see the target all you need to do is place the dot on the target and you will hit it.
 
My eyes are just crap at this point...(together with my back, my looks, my feet and my personality)...

I have been using a TA31RCO ACOG...

I'm going to have to sell it (I just can focus on it with my eyes) and get an EOTECH...that's a bummer becasue TA31RCOs are hard to get and I love them...sob sob
