AR15 barrel 20 or 24inch?

I want to do some upgrades to my Bushy... One thing that I want to do is put the aluminum handguards on it... but then i asked myself if I should just buy the vmatch upper. Then came the question of should I get the 24inch barrel or the 20 inch barrel? Does that extra four inches make a big difference? And, should I get those aluminum handguards or are those no big deal either? I was looking at the bushmaster website and I saw the new varminter rifle... I really like the way that it looks and essentially thats how I want my bushy to look. Has anyone had experience with the aluminum handguards like v-match? Thanks for the input.

Are you going to reload for the longer barrel or use factory ammo.

Most if not all military and factory ammo is designed to have the powder charge burned up by the time it leaves a standard 20" BBL. Loading/Reloading allows you choose a slower burning powder to make the extra four inches worthwhile otherwise it is just extra weight and slows the bullet down before it leaves the BBL.

No I am just using factory ammo for the moment. I just wanted to get those aluminum handguards and figured if im gonna do it why not by a different upper and then the question of 20 or 24 inch bbl came into play. But I think Ill avoid it. I'll just buy the guards and then have a store here put them on for me. THanks.
