Hello Gents,
A fe months back I posted regardeing my first ever Plasto blaster, a PRT 91. Wifey wanted her own EBR so I looked at M4 type mousers and didn't care for the price. I know! I'll build one and save some money! I thought with the help of a friend I could be in it for about 700 750. You see, I know squat from an AR, green as wood. Well, we have a Rock Island lower and a DPMS upper with four position stock, 16" 1 in 9 barrel and $250 bucks worth of Troy sights. I would have spent less but the store had Troy and cheezy stuff for fifty bucks, I bought the Troys. So, at present I'm about a grand into this thing. I should have just bought a Noveski and been done with it!
Now to the best part. I anted this gun to be just for little wife. she was all excited but could not get any kind of sight picture. I explained, I drew pictures, I demonstrated. Even down to the most simple monkey see monkey do kind of thing. All to no avail. The woman has no trouble doing pistol work and for a novice does all right. In our 17 years, Did I ever do an eye dominance test? I thought I did...
But no. I assumed, and we all know how that works. Yep, left eye dominate. "Oh! now I get it". said she.
So I entertained the notion of getting a LH upper and starting over. I'm past that now. I may have to pay the bill, but she will have to live with the result.
I'm just chalkin' this up to edumacation and cutting my losses.

Why do I get the feeling you wanted this build for yourself??? Just get her a M&P Sporter for $650.00 and be done with it.

Jim

Get a lefty upper for her, and build a new lower for you. Problem solved. Now you each have an AR and can shoot together. :D

Or, she could just shoot the one you made lefty and nothing bad will happen. They really don't throw brass back at you if you shoot them lefty. It's just amazing that after nearly 50 years of use all of a sudden we seem to have discovered that these rifles are somehow unsuitable for left handed use. I guess the memo took a long time to get circulated.
