AR-180B Method Operation

I recently read something that referred to the AR-180B's gas operation method as "famous." Can anyone tell me what makes the AR-180B's method of operation "famous?" How is it different from other gas operated semi-auto rifles? Just curious. Still hoping Armalite manages to get their new ones shipped and still trying to decide it I want one.
 
Well, if famous is just "well known" then I guess the gas system used in the AR180 is famous.

It uses a tappet and piston system that's been around for years. The Russian SVT38 and SVT 40 used a similar system as well as the German G43.
