AR-15 help

I am about to purchase a Bushmaster AR-15 with a 16 inch barrel. Should I get a muzzle break with it? I understand that the one with the muzzle brake really has a 14.5 inch barrel and the muzzelbreak is permanetly attached so as to make it 16 inches. I think it looks really cool and would love to have one, but I have heard that it makes the gun intolerably loud and that it also messes up the guns accuracy. Is this true? Also, how reliable are the rifles? And what is the best way to break them in?

And also, will G.I. mags work with them or are they particular to one type of mag?

In order:
1. Most people report that the AK brake increases the noise substantially.

2. From Bushmasters website:

Q. Does the AK muzzle brake affect accuracy? I know some people swear by a plain barrel - but others use some kind brake or suppressor - which is best?

A. In our experience, the most accurate muzzle is the post-ban crowned muzzle. Many competition and target shooters we have talked with confirm this. As the bullet leaves the muzzle, you want - for greatest accuracy - to have no alteration of, or influence on, the bullet's flight. With an 11 degree
competition crown, the gases behind the bullet flow out in an even pattern of dispersal at the instant that bullet exits the barrel. This affords the least chance of disrupting that bullet path.

3. Bushmasters website has FAQ which cover break-in and maintenance. www.bushmaster.com

4. GI mags work fine and are usually preferred.

I own a Bushmaster 16" with the AK Break. It groups as well as my Brothers 16" plain barrel. The only difference is that the AK break will keep muzzle jump to a minimum. I have noticed the differece under rapid fire.

The AK break will make the noise somewhat louder but not uncomfortable.

The Bushmaster Rifles are the most reliable I have ever owned. Their customer service is second to none. The USGI mags work flawlessly along with Thermolds and Orlite(#22up)

I will normally shoot around 250 rounds through a new rifle before cleaning. I use Breakfree CLP and a boresnake for routine cleaning and Hopps #9 every 500 rounds or so.

Yep....I love my Bushmaster and just got back from the range. Got rained out after 30 rounds. Just my luck
