AR 15 Fix?

I put this in the rifle section, and then thought maybe it'd be better asked here.

"I was sent this by a friend of mine. Apparently he was told about it by one of his friends.

I dunno. He says his "buddy" and some of his friends put this thing together. Does it seem like an actual fix or something to sell "just because"?"
 
What problem does yours have that needs "fixed"? It's probably an improvement over the original design, sure... but exactly how many times has the gas system on your AR15 caused it to malfunction during the heat of battle?

I can certainly understand why someone who just likes to modify their rifle would be attracted to it. It's whiz-bang cool. Of course it seems to me those are the same guys who'd likely never see a failure caused by hot gas or carbon build up because they clean their weapons. I look at it the same way I look at some uber-expensive brake upgrades for my Harley - theoretically much better than the factory stock setup, but for practical purposes it looks like a solution in search of a problem. Just my opinion, of course, and worth every cent you paid me for it. :)
 
NO problems at all. I was under the impression that I am one of the few that are so lucky though. I never go into combat, and have never had reliability issues at the range either. I was just curious what others thought since I often hear so many bad things about the AR and it's reliability from other owners
 
I've shot thousands of rounds through my Bushy Shorty with no gas system related failures. I do use a McFarland gas ring.
 
I'll give you my take on it...

I would be more than willing to try this thing out if they were asking what it was worth price wise.

They are trying to market $10 worth of metal and springs, that can be machined in minutes and finished in mass in days, and charing an outrageous price. I understand CNC machines, Mills, Lathes, and such cost alot of money. I'm not expecting them to give me a part to a gun and only charge the spot price of the metal used + 10%. Hell you can do a cheap build of a whole rifle for that price. There is more time and material put into making a barrel than making that contraption, and that is 3 times the price of a barrel.

I would buy it just to try it out IF I thought it were a good deal. They'll have to come down a WHOLE lot before I would ever consider it a good deal.

Edit: BTW just because I would try it doesn't mean that I think the AR is a faulty platform. Direct Gas Impingment has helped keep me alive...
 
I agree with JeepinGA. The AR-15 is a nice platform, but it certainly can be improved upon. There are severalthings that can be done to increase reliability and make it run a lot longer between cleanings. Add a gas piston system to keep the gas away from the chamber for starters. The SIG 556, Bushmaster ACR (not yet available) and Robinson XCR are all options. I grabbed a SIG 556 with an ACOG as my solution for the present for a nice, accurate and reliable carbine. More solutions will be available, hopefully sooner than later. Here it is next to my favorute AK-47, the Polytech Legend.

my problem is, i dont know what this kit is actually fixing.My colt runs just fine.

the other problem i have is that this exact thread has been circulating on another catagory and has got alot of "airtime"
why are you posting the same thing again here?
if you are the supplier or have some interest in selling these, why dont you just sent me one on trial and ill report how good it is here for all to see?
