AR-15 cheek peice...irritating.

Ok, so I've got some extra dough laying around, and I thought it'd be good to pick up an AR cheek peice so that I can get a better cheek weld.

MAN! These things are PRICEY! I mean, they start at around $65!

The other irritating thing is, if I'm going to drop that much dough on something like that, I should be able to get it in any color, but they're only available in black. For that sort of money, I want one that's green.

Anyone have any recommendations?

if you mean te "delta" cheek piece, it has one other "feature"
it completely voids using the iron sights :(

are you trying to cheek weld a scope on a fixed carry handle?

Get a can of Brownell's Alumahyde II in OD Green and spray the exterior of the cheek piece, that Alumahyde II stuff will be about as close to the OD Green Armalite furniture color as you can get and it will be DURABLE too. Just let the Alumahyde II cure for a good 3-4 days and it will get nice and hard, for 8 bucks it's likely good to have a can of the Alumahyde II around for some other things you might want it for.

And for those Delta type cheek pieces, there are two out there: one that covers the stock on both sides and I'm pretty sure needs tools to install or remove, while the other one covers just one side of the stock and can be snapped on and off the stock. All my AR15s are flattops but if I was going for a delta type cheek rest I'd likely get the snap on type so that I could pop it off and ditch the scope to use iron sights again. I forget where or who makes the pop on type.
