AR-15 based pistols

Folks,
Intrigued by the idea, mostly because of the mag situation.

I know it'll have a huge flash, reduced velocity and doesn't even make a lot of sense but oh well.

Anyone have any experience with these? Are they reliable? Are the conversions a good option or are you better just buying one built?

I like the one by Olympic just from the looks of it. Much shorter.

Thanks for the input,

I have a Carbon 15 type 97 pistol. Fun gun. Wasn't perfectly reliable at first, but much better now that it's broken in. Not sure of the tactical usefulness, but it's the size of a SP89/MP5K and shoots a much better round (.223 vs. 9mm). Big muzzle flash, but not too much kick. Acceptable accuracy, but would be better with a laser (I've been meaning to get one).

Saw what I considered to be the ultimate AR pistol... But I don't remember the make.

It was unique in that it had a tube on top with a spring inside, running from the rear of the receiver to the front sight. This way, the standard "tube" that is still present where the stock should be was completely eliminated.

Willem Defoe had one in the 2nd "Patriot Games" movie.

Of course, all this was prior to '94.... Now there's a weight limit on pistols with magazines in front of the trigger guard. I think it's 50oz or somewhere along those lines.
