AR-10 Forend question?

Ive got an AR-10 that I'm using for the Heavy Metal Division in some 3 gun matches. Other than a match trigger, aftermarket iron sights, and Hogue grip, the rifle is stock. With my handloads its a 1.5-2" shooter. Its worked fine at the local matches, but I want to put a freefloat forend on it, to see if I can shrink the groups some. Looking down the road at some bigger matches with longer range rifle stages.
I dont need rails, so Ive narrowed it to two choices.
One is a JP freefloat forend. Great reviews but the attachment system seems more complicated than necessary.
Second is the basic Armalite freefloat forend. It looks simple and inexpensive.
Anyone have any firsthand experience with either???
Thanks in advance.

I would use the basic ArmaLite tube, you already have a ArmaLite rifle. $80 for the tube is a bargain in my book. The rails can add up in a hurry. If you go with a rail system, the SWS is the best available.

Ive looked at the SWS tubes. I like the fact that they attach with the Armalite hardware. I just dont want or need rails. It makes an already large and heavy tube, even larger and heavier.
I 'm a little suspect of the stock Armalite tube. Hate to be cynical, but its ALOT cheaper then the others. Im wondering if thats due to less machining or less quality????

FYI Remington 700 scope bases make fore a good rail substitute on free float tubes if you ever want to mount something.

I think the ArmaLite price reflects the ease of manufacturer for the tube style hand guards. The barrel nut probably takes more machine time than the tube.
I would email customer service and ask them. They have always given me a straight answer when I have asked questions.

With the higher priced tubes and guards I think in some cases you pay a lot for the name that's stamped on the part.

White Oak Precision is a well respected name and their tubes are fairly low priced and a very simple yet heavy duty part.
