APX owners, help me prove Beretta wrong? Full to Compact

Hey there,

Converting a full APX to a compact:

I just got back a response from Beretta that the full size APX chassis will fit the compact/centurion grip, but the barrel and slide will not.

True?

I'm thinking it would work? would it just be a recoil spring uncovered like the full size P320 to the sub compact frame?

Or are they right?
