Approx. value of '70s Browning Hi-Power?

A local gun dealer received one with blued finish, fixed sites in approx. 90% (I'm not good at rating). Bore looks good, has some finish wear on the back of the grip near the base, and has a little finish wear/marring on the slide at the muzzle about 1/8"x1/2" vertically. He is asking $365. Is this a good/fair price. I don't have any blue book values with me at the moment and wasn't able to find anything online. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

If the barrel looks good and is an original barrel (so you can be comfortable that the gun did not wear out its first barrel) then $365 is a fair price and further proof that most people asking 500 to 650 for the same gun are simply out of touch with reality.

Make sure the gun is an actual Made in Belgium FN pistol, not a clone or make under license somewhere else. A clone would be closer to $200 new.

Not to say some of the collectable ones are not worth more, just that a reasonable shooter (made in belgium) should always be available for under $400.

You might want to check out fnhipower.com and just verify the serial number and manufacture date for yourself.

Thanks for the info and the link. I will check it out, but I don't have the serial number to verify anything yet. The pistol is marked Made in Belgium and is the same quality fit/finish that I have seen in other Brownings. Not like I'm not buying too many guns lately, but this one sparked my interest a bit.

I`ve picked up some nice used HPs around here (NE Pa) for less tham $400. How many mags, box, paperwork etc. add to the value. Without seeing it, it sounds pretty good.
