Appreciating freedom

I know that some other folks on TFL are immigrants from non-gun friendly countries. I just thought about the fact that I went to the range last night, shot about a hundred rounds through my SIG, and then another 150 with an MP5K-PDW (rental, I wish it was mine). Then I topped the evening off with a box of 50 through my Guardian, and a few cylinders out of the Mini-Mag. Then I packed up, put the JHP rounds back in the SIG for the ride home, and took off with a loaded handgun on my side. All the while I can revel in the knowledge and comfort that my actions are completely legal, and my state government trusts me with a concealed handgun.

Now, coming from a country where legal handgun ownership by civilians is almost impossible (and handgun permits are as rare as white rhinos), I can't even begin to convey just how much I enjoy this liberty and sense of self-determination. They might be chipping away at our rights, but I will do whatever I can to preserve them. I love living here, and I still remember the alternative far too well. The degree of personal freedom enjoyed by most of us is unparalleled anywhere else in the world, and we better dig in our heels and defend our rights against those who would use us as a testing herd for their utopian social experiments, all the while blaming *us* for the disasters their policies create.

I will never again give up my right to determine my own fate, even if it means moving to Vermont. :)

Aw, c'mon, you make it sound like Vermont isn't a great place to live. :D

Come on up for a visit!

panzerfuhrer,

I meant I'd move to Vermont before I give up my right to carry. I lived in NH for a while, and I know that Vermont is a lovely place to be. Any state with sensible gun laws sounds good to me, and VT takes the cake in that respect.
