Applying a sandblasted-like finish

I am looking for a way to apply a finish that resembles fine sandblasting.
Thought of using flash rusting to cause fine pitting and then remove the rust but it seems too complicated.
Any ways to emmulate the look of a sand-blasted finish?

Just to mention that scratching with paper to cause mateing is not an option for me since it is a competely different kind of finish with a different look.
I need no scratches.

Thanks!

I believe what you want is called bead blasting, using tiny glass beads instead of sand. Not as aggressive as sand. Makes OK finish on a gun that has been rusted, blast then blue. I had one done that way 25 years ago, maybe something better has came alone since. Looked pretty nice.

Thanks, guys, bead bladting was what i meant.
i don't have access to a "bead blaster" or whatever the equipment is caled and this is why i was looking for ways of applying a finish that EMULATES the look of a bead blasted piece.

Most machine shops have bead blasters.
Most any NAPA Auto Parts or the equivalent should be able to point you towards a good machine shop.

Good luck.

you should try a local gunsmith or machine shop it should be fairly cheap. And yes glass beads will give a fine almost polished finish and sand will give you more of a matte finish as will aluminum oxide.

Thanks
James
