Appleseed question . . .

Training Pros:
I'm thinking about doing the Appleseed training and so am reading the info available on their website. In the "preparation" section is says to center your guns at 25 meters or 200 yards. That is quite a difference in distance. 25 meters is just over 27 yards. Am I missing something here?

Because a trajectory is, of necessity, an arc, it will cross the sight line in two places, on the way up and on the way down.

The preparation section is implying that for their purposes, it is reasonable to assume that a 25 yard zero (sight line/trajectory intersection on the upward portion of the arc) is approximately the same as a 200 yard zero (sight line/trajectory intersection on the downward portion of the arc).

Those are the two distances normally shot for Appleseed events, if I'm not mistaken.

Find out what range the one you plan to attend is using, then zero accordingly.
 
Are you using a .22? Its recommended by the instructors.
Sight in for 25m.
Most Appleseed shoots are done at 25m using scaled down targets to simulate more distant targets.

If you can, practice your sling usage prior to your AS.
If your old and fat like me:o, start stretching now. Proper prone and sitting positions can feel awkward and strained at first, but feel better with use.
 
They will teach you how to use the sling, though a little foreknowledge on the sling would be advantageous, in that you could get the thing adjusted prior to the event. I did waste precious time messing with the sling at times.
