I know this aint no knife forum, but you guys and gals have always helped me so here goes.

I just bought a used in perfect condition Gerber Rex Applegate large folder single edge knife for a single 50 dollar bill. Is that a good price for this knife?

Thanks..

Yep, just watch the point. I've had several different Gerbers break on me and the way the point is ground on the folder will make it prone to breakage, not to mention the steel. If you bought the version without the false edge you did pretty good. Enjoy your new blade .

Designed by well-known author and hand-to-hand combat expert Colonel Rex
Applegate, the Applegate Combat Folder is the first folding combat knife ever
developed. The product features a large blade which fits snugly into a relativly small
handle, an objective not easily accomplished with most folding knives.

In addition, the knife features a blade with a thumb stud for easy one-handed
deployment, and a sheath for easy knife storage. Created in the likeness of
legendary Applegate-Fairbaim® knives, the Applegate Combat Folder is one knife
that you will not want to be without. Available in single and false double edge.

Just be careful with it I had one untill it sent me to the er twice 2 Christmas's ago.
Long story just be careful as you should be with all weapons. And good deal!

Ya did good, Judge. Best price I've seen has been $60-65. I picked up a BM Elishowitz Dark Star last week for $106, kinda made my day. I'd like to get the Covert (double edge) for my collection some time. M2

Not a bad price - not bad at all.
Thats one of the knives that will one day end up in my collection.

I attend the Blade show held in Atlanta every year.( June 2-4 this year ) In 1996, Col. Rex Apllegate himself was in the Gerber booth. I purchased one of the Gerber Applegates, and the the good colonel signed the blkade of the knife with a Sharpee pen. I also got a signed photo from him. The signed knife and photo now reside in a shadowbox in my living room. One of my prized possessions. He was a nice old guy. As I'm sure most of you know, he died in the summer of '98.

I have the Covert model (double bevel). I like the Applegate design, and it also works well in everyday tasks. I think everyday use is a good way to become and stay familiar with a knife (collectors may dissagree). $ 50 is a good price for your knife.
