AP - Bounty Offered for Border Agent

McALLEN, Texas (AP) - Angered by the treatment of illegal Mexican immigrants in the United States, an activist in Mexico says he will offer $10,000 to anyone who kills a Border Patrol agent.
Carlos Ibarra Perez, president of the Citizens Defense Committee, said he would offer the bounty today in Reynosa, Mexico.

The action by Ibarra Perez, whose group claims to have 5,000 members, follows the killing of an undocumented immigrant by a border patrol agent two weeks ago in Brownsville and reported threats by vigilantes.

Ibarra Perez also expressed anger at the treatment of illegal immigrants near Douglas, Ariz., where armed ranchers have patrolled the border themselves, complaining of trespassing and vandalism by immigrants.

"If there are American citizens saying that they are going to kill immigrants, then why can't we (kill agents)?" Ibarra Perez told The Monitor of McAllen.

The Border Patrol had not heard about Ibarra Perez's intention to offer the bounty, supervisory agent Ramiro De Anda said.

De Anda said narcotics traffickers had made similar threats in the past in the El Paso area, but he had never heard of a community group making a similar offer.

"It's ludicrous," he said.

Mexican officials said they also were not aware of the proposal. Deputy Consul Jose Ramon Lopez de Leon in McAllen said the consulate was monitoring the situation.

"If something comes of it, then we will take action," he said.

He just committed a major felony.

How much you want to bet there will be no repercussions for him? He's being "politically correct" so nobody's going to touch him.

Tell me again why landmining the border is such a bad idea?

I spent a great deal of time, two years ago working in the factories of Matamoros, Reynosa, Monterrey and Saltillo, Mexico. The people in Mexico are good people and they desire to do the same thing that we do: provide for our families and enjoy some of the finer things in life. The only problem is that they live in a country that is desperately corrupt and controlled by a few people.

The fastest way to shut this guy up would be to shut down the money spigot until he get's a clue. We all know that is wishful thinking since the owners of the NAFTA plants care about one thing and one thing only: cheaper labor costs.

I advise anyone traveling in the areas to seek re-assignment asap or make it a point to only travel during the day. If you grew up along the Border that is one thing but if you are a transplant like I was, you run the risk of disappearing even when things are normal. Be sure to travel with someone else or in groups.

Forget about the border issues being resolved. Our Mexican Border is no longer in the hands of We The People, it is controlled by Multi-national corporations through NAFTA. They could care less about the influx of Black Tar Heroin into our nation since NAFTA, numerous unsafe 18-wheelers on the road and they don't care about a few Border Patrol Agents either. The bottom line here is money-------go back to your six-pack and cable TV and don't worry as long as Wall Street does well.

I just called both of my Senators. The staffers who spoke with were outraged and swore that they would do everything in their power to see that something was done. (Robb and Warner and both big on defense, law enforcement and the military.)

I am sure that old "Slick Willie" won't have the spine to do a damn thing about it except mention politely that it isn't nice to kill our people. (Maybe he should send some trigger locks to Mexico?)

(As an afterthought I called the Whitehouse. They didn't seem to care at all and thanked me for calling in - click, buzz ???)

Remember, the man making the threats is a Mexican National, residing in Mexico, and he made those threats from inside Mexico.

Just a wee bit outside our jurisdiction.

However, as an American National, residing in America, I offer some advice to Carlos Ibarra Perez to do with what he may:

You'd best stay put in Mexico, bub, 'cause that little statement of yours was plumb dumb and stupid.

Here's your sign.

God forbid that someone actually tries to collect that little bounty of yours. 'Cause if it happens, you best gear up for a war.

Just some friendly advice.

Lawdog,

He's out of U.S. jurisdiction, but he can still be indicted and a reward put on HIS head if need be (we did it to those Arellano brothers).

Why we put up with this crap is beyond me. Can you imagine Canadian groups threatening to kill U.S. LEOs and offering bounties? The U.S. would throw a fit, including Clintoon and company. The Mexicans are an oppressed minority though, so we'll put up with anything from them. What a crock.

On a related note, have Federal LEOs had enough of Clinton/Reno yet? With rewards on the heads of Border Agents and a serious conflict brewing, the President and Attorney General are sitting in DC with their thumbs up their proverbial rectums. The only thing I can think of is Pinkos want the illegals here - they make good Democrats. Too bad LEOs and their families will have to pay the price.

Actually, most of the Mexican immigrants (legal and otherwise) I have met are very conservative. I actually prefer working with them over some of <<our own>> minorities. Most are hard-working and honest. Yes, there are many differences in culture, but once they learn and adapt, they generally become model citizens and people you want as your neighbor. And they generally work hard to become part of society rather than remain apart from it....

I don't CARE about pretty....I just want dangerous.

Sounds like someone's done let his mouth run away with him, but that's all it would take for some idiot to do something very stupid.

Mexican Activist Withdraws Bounty on Border Patrol Agents
The Associated Press

McALLEN, Texas (AP) - A Mexican activist who offered a $10,000 bounty for killing U.S. Border Patrol agents has withdrawn the offer after officials on both sides of the border opened criminal investigations.

Carlos Ibarra Perez, a spokesman for an advocacy group called the Citizen Defense Committee, told a San Diego, Calif., radio show Tuesday he had changed his mind because he did not want to see more border violence, The (McAllen) Monitor reported today after obtaining an audiotape of the interview.

"I'm saying a different thing now," Ibarra told radio station KFMB through an interpreter. "I'm saying that we avoid violence."

"I'm saying we're not supporting this situation of sending people to kill people. I'm saying we leave the leaders of the countries to fix this," he said.

Ibarra, 60, said in a news conference Monday he was making the offer because too many illegal immigrants were being slain by federal agents and private landowners while making their way into the United States.

Officials from the Tamaulipas state attorney general's office and the FBI said they would continue their investigations despite Ibarra's retraction.

"He would need to submit an official written statement before it (the retraction) could even be considered," said Juan Ramon Perez, a spokesman for the attorney general.

In McAllen, FBI spokesman John DeLeon said it did not matter if Ibarra changed his mind.

"The most important thing from our perspective is that comments that he did make were taken seriously by both the Border Patrol and the FBI," DeLeon said. "Even if he retracts from what he's already stated, from the perspective of FBI we will still pursue what we need to do to thoroughly explore the potential for a full-blown investigation."

Don't hear a peep from the Klintonistas do you?

He probably donated to the $10,000 fund...
