6th-Grader Holds Class at Gunpoint

LISBON, Ohio (AP) – A sixth-grader pulled a gun in his classroom today but a teacher persuaded him to drop the weapon, the school superintendent said. No one was hurt and the boy was taken into custody. The boy came into his classroom at about 9 a.m., pointed a gun at the floor and told his classmates and teacher to get down, the superintendent told Cleveland TV station WEWS. A pupil in the hallway overheard the exchange and summoned another teacher, who persuaded the boy to give up the gun. Authorities didn't immediately say if the gun was loaded. The boy's name was not released.

Every time I hear that I cringe at the thought of the next round of Oh my God Oh my God, you're killing the children !!!!!

You know when the ATF killed the children at Waco none of these "concerned" citizens were offended or outraged or anything, and they burnt those kids alive, what was it like 20 of them ? I will say this : I seriously don't believe for even a second that any of these hard core anti's give a crap about children. They are too selfish to care about anything except for some foolish propagandized garbage.

Sixth-grader held classmates at gunpoint

LISBON, Ohio - A sixth-grader pulled a gun in his
classroom Thursday morning but a teacher persuaded
him to drop the weapon, the school superintendent
said. No one was hurt and the 12-year-old boy was
taken into custody. He told authorities that his mother
is in jail and he wanted to join her. The boy came into
his McKinley Elementary School classroom at about
9 a.m., pointed a gun at the floor and told his classmates and teacher to get
down, the school superintendent told Cleveland TV station WEWS. A pupil
in the hallway overheard the exchange and summoned another teacher, who
persuaded the boy to give up the gun, school authorities said. The whole
thing was over in less than five minutes. This is the latest in a string of school
violence incidents that has caused a nationwide debate over gun control.

That's just sad. Kid wanted to be with his mom in prison. Glad USA Today decided to point out what a big "gun" problem this was. Otherwise, what with the lack of family structure in this kid's life, I would have assumed this was a "values" problem. Thanks USA Today for setting me straight! (Insert sarcasm here)

And, in concurrence with the penalty the youngster in Michingan received for his contribution to society, this one will get 90 days suspension from school.
Best Regards,
Don

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

TV news here said that the 9MM pistol belonged to his father who said it was kept on a high shelf with a trigger lock affixed. The kid found the key.

SKN, now watch the move to have the keys to trigger locks kept at a police station. You won't see much on that in the media. Also his mom is in jail. Maybe she is with the guy who's 6 year old killed the girl a short time ago. Seems to be at trend.

Wonder if Mommy is interested in joining the MMM? ;)

WEWS huh? I'm thinking there is a whole lot more to this story. Since it's kind of local, I'm sure it's going to get major air time. Gee, I wonder if Ohio and pending CCW legislation is going to come up?

Just read the story in the local rag:

Mom is in jail on drug related charges.
Lisbon is a rural setting.
Dad had a trigger lock on the gun, junior somehow found the key.
Picture of some guy holding a through the barrel gun lock (huh?)
Pending legislation in Ohio would put Dad behind bars with Mom for allowing a gun to fall into juvi hands,,,stressed in the article.

Central theme;
Even with a gun lock, good kids in a non urban setting get guns. Ban them all.

Only sane person:
the school superintendant "The kid got what he wanted, attention"

Careful trumpeting the lock thing until we know for sure that it really was on the gun. The father may be too dumb to keep his kid from getting his gun and yet too smart to want to be hung out to dry. He'll know that right now a lot of heat is being put on parents if only by people like us, and it isn't hard to fake the trigger lock being there, but the boy may tell a different story.

I've wondered about this for awhile. How do they expect to prove the trigger lock isn't on the weapon after a crime, with these new laws? Illinois just passed it and as far as I know they still can't randomly come in and check compliance--so if you left your gun on the kitchen table with a trigger lock lying next to it with the key in it--then how would they be able to say it wasn't on the gun?
This whole thing burns me up. You're right about the principal which is why you probably won't hear much more from him.

I heard on the news last night that the father did in fact say there was a trigger lock on the gun but the boy found the key. Seeing that the antis can not say "If only a trigger lock were used this wouldn't have happened" I wonder what they will say now? Smart guns? Glad to hear that no one was hurt though!

Let's see, kid wants to join mom in jail.

Seeing as how the household is so full of "family values" - does dad have a record and should he legally be allowed the gun in the first place?

The only way to ensure trigger locks are used would be to make random inspections at peoples homes. This would of course require what class?.......Altogether now..

"Registration"

It would require more than that. In Illinois we are registered but we still have a Fourth Amendment right to demand warrants for that sort of thing, not that I trust it to carry us through much longer. People will resist more strongly when it comes down to random searches of actual homes but it will either break the whole thing or just take longer--say ten years before the 4th is meaningless because "the founders wouldn't have intended us to demand such rights if they could see what (insert DRUGS/TERRORISTS/GUNS/PUPPIES) are doing to our Children."
