AOL Fires Gun Owners!

I'm surprised as to why AOL has so many subscribers. Anybody with even a little 'Net savvy can do a lot better with a cheaper ISP. My computer and 'Net skills are quite limited compared to many people out there, but I've never needed the hand-holding type of support that AOL has profferd. I just don't get their popularity.

If any of you are using AOL, dump those overpriced, smug b******s and go out and find a cheaper, politically neutral ISP. It's really not that difficult to change ISPs, and once you do, you can tell AOL just why you chose to fire them!

I hope they all get their jobs back, but for crying out loud, if your company doesn't like guns, go to work elsewhere like Tom did! People get fired for breaking the rules and AOL has dumb rules, but AOL also WAS the organiation paying their paychecks. You should not upset the people who pay you unless you were planing on a long vacation anyway.

I notice the article mention that 2 of 3 had concealed permits and the third was getting his - and that all were familiar with safe handling and Utah laws. I wonder what part of concealed they failed to understand.

Don't get me wrong, I don't support AOL at all, but if you work for a hostile company, and you want to carry or transport firearms at that company, then you have to work to make sure they don't find an excuse to fire you. They displayed in public! Good Grief!

Seems to me that although they did give AOL an excuse, the action taken was over the top. If I were site HR manager, I would have stated that they simply had to transfer the weapons off-site and ask for cooperation from the employees. On the other hand, maybe AOL has too many people on staff and needed an RIF. Lawsuits are messy and it's too bad.

Most of the "employers" that I've worked for over the past 8 months have a "no weapons" policy, whether you're carring legally or not. I did sign the paper but it means the same to me as the oath that the president swears to on ignagoration day.. nada. If I am caught, they can fire me. But, they still have to write a reference to my job proformance which they cannot lie on (if they do, then to court you go). They will include why you were fired, but if your next employer doesn't like it, well, you're just setting yourself up of another firing. My employer now is anti. They've already commented on my window stickers, but they won't gurantee my safey late at night, why should I trust them to pay for my medical bills if I am a victem? They won't so I chose to protect myself.

Side note: AOL sucks. I was banned about two years ago from them, they didn't like my attitude. Also, they are "in bed" with the fbi, they are an open server to the guberment so anything you type or say or do is recorded.

Sorry for the confusion....

I did not work for AOL, I fired them as my ISP. I was happy with classic Cserve, but after the marriage with AOL I wasn't going to let my internet dollars fund their brand of politics.
