Here's the mail I sent them:
"Dear AOL,
I am a long-time member of AOL for my sole internet and e-mail services. I am also a long-time sport shooter, gun collector, and hunter. I am law-abiding (I could not have gotten my concealed weapons permit without an impeccable background and an investigation by the FBI) as are all my shooting colleagues.
I am very disturbed of reports from several legitimate firearms businesses who have their web sites hosted on AOL, and who have been notified by AOL that their sites violate the decency standards set by AOL. There is some indication that their businesses were compared to "pornography".
These are honest, legitimate businesses, and if this is true I find it very offensive. If i can get confirmation that the stories are true, I will be cancelling my AOL service. I will also be urging all my shooting sports colleagues and other friends/family to do the same.
The is too much illogical hysteria surrounding the "gun issue" right now... it is almost McCarthyism or a witch hunt. The overwhelming majority of gun owners and gun sport enthusiasts are law-abiding, and although it is your right to control the content on your sight, I consider this action discriminatory and even slanderous. AOL is on notice... I WILL cancel.
Sincerely,"
