Anyone with exp./data on .338-08

This wildcat caliber just interest me for some reason. Anyone out there have experience with the cartridge or reloading data?

try to find something in that caliber (.338) with someting close to the same case capacity and start from there. This thing should push a big bullet not very fast but it would be a neat little close range round.

Has the look of a 7.62x39 on roids.

I dunno. Something like this just screams "don't put me in a short-action."

There is a good article on the .338-08 in the 17th ed of Handloading Digest. Goal was 2500 fps with the 210 gr Nosler part and was easily achieved IIRC.

.338-08...

I'd be much more inclined to go with either a .338-06 for the better ballistic performance.

A friend wildcatted a .338-06 off a Mauser action some years ago. Very accurate, easy on the shoulder, and plenty of power.
