So for anyone whos used gunbroker.com, i have a question. If i bid on an item, say, the 15th, can i pay for it on, say, the 18th? Or is payment required immediately. It says payment must be made within 7 days, so i'm assuming the former, but im just double checking. Thanks!
Comply with the payment instruction the seller has in his add. I haven't had any problems.
It is a good idea to reply quickly after the end of an auction (or earlier if you have questions) to establish planned payment and to specify which option if multiple methods are listed.
If it is an item that requires and FFL, it is a good idea to arrange your FFL holder early.
And laugh loudly at anyone insisting on a 3 day payment and a money order in the same listing.

Payment terms are entirely up to the seller, and they should be spelled out clearly in the auction. If you won a bid, it's assumed you read the sellers requirements and agree to them. If you didn't, you got no one to blame but you. If they didn't spell it all out... they are rank amateurs.
.
I used to run internet sales for a large gun shop. Anything from worn out old SXS wall hangers to minty Parkers to SCAR 17s and custom 1911s. We requested payment within 2 weeks of close of auction... if we didn't get payment, we'd attempt to contact them before giving them a negative review. The last thing you want to do is give someone a negative review without giving them a chance to acquit themselves.
Every part of the process was spelled out in every auction and was all quite reasonable as far as payment. Most paid with a CC over the phone while with others, who didn't have CCs or didn't want to use them, I'd request a USPS money order... 'cause they can be verified on-line.
Thanks for the info fellas! I definitely can pay, but was just making sure the winning of the auction and the payment are separate from each other (perhaps I should've worded my initial post like this lol). It appears they are! Thanks!
Read the ad, as you will probably find payment terms spelled out. If you are logged in, you can use the "Ask seller a question" link to contact the seller.
Some sellers will accept credit cards (typically witha 3% or 4% surcharge), but some require money orders or cashier's checks.
usually the payment requirements are listed on the auction listing. Most of the time its 5 days to pay for the item, sometimes more, sometimes less. I've never had a bad transaction on gunbroker except for two very slow sales.
