anyone use the Remington R3 recoil pad?

I don't know how it compares, but it is a very good recoil pad. I can shoot twice the rounds that I used to shoot before 'feeling it'.

Limbsaver makes the Remington R3 recoil pad. The R3 recoil pad is a limbsaver pad. I use a Limbsaver with the Knoxx SpecOps stock. See my recent thread of "First shotgun/Slug experience and Knoxx SpecOps Review - fairly long" for pics of both products. I was shooting slugs, no pain or irritation of any kind. I was extremely impressed with the combo, worth every penny spent.

I did a shotgun project last week with two sessions of shooting buck & ball through two 870s. One had the LimbSaver recoil pad, a recent addition to the gun and the first time I'd shot it with that pad. Worked great. I can recommend it. Get it rounded off at the bottom.

nin1974, with just the R3 recoil pad depending on the slug I think:
- low recoil slug 1200 ft/sec (for me) will be uncomfortable :(
- 1400+ feet/sec slug (for me) will be discouraging (massive recoil)

It really depends if you're shooting sitting down or standing up. If you're shooting slugs/buckshot while sitting, it's going to hurt no matter what setup you have. If you're standing, your body absorbs a lot less of the recoil...and the R3 pad will help even more. While standing, it is not terribly uncomfortable shooting slugs/buckshot through my 870 with the R3 pad...I'm 5'11" and 210 pounds...for someone smaller, YMMV.
