Hi,

Wondering if anyone here has used this Leapers scope?

They make some real similar models to this one but this is non-illuminated with side focus, and AO, focusable 10ft - infinity.

If no one owns this exact model, I'd like to hear about the similar models.

I had always heard Leapers were no good. Then I bought a 6x32 Bugbuster at a garage sale a few years ago.

I had it in my hand to check out and it looked OK to me so I paid $15. It's a great little scope that I still use, so I'm gonna try this one out.

Midway says it's returnable for a full refund as long as it hasn't been mounted. So I'll check out the glass and if it's less than I expect, I'll ship it right back.

You can tell very little by looking through the glass.

They can hide a whole lot of cheap in the W&E adjustment mechanism, the focus mechanism, parallax adjustment and in the tube.

Whoops. Sorry about the link. I think this one will work:

And as far as just looking through the glass...

Some guys, might take some felt or other soft material, and place it over the scope and under the rings and mount it very carefully with no "King Kong" tightening of the rings. Then zero the scope and check to see if it holds zero and so on.

I wouldn't do it of course and then try to return it, but some guys might. I bet Midway even knows this goes on.

I should have added that they also will accept a scope return for a full refund if it doesn't hold zero or has some other type of manufacturer's defect.

My experience with Midway has always been, if you're reasonable with them, they're reasonable with you.

Just received the Leapers Compact 3-12x44, model SCP3-M3124AOMD-A.

This one was really, really poor. It's on the way back to the supplier.

I guess it's true that Leapers is hit or miss.

I couldn't get it to focus at any magnification, even at 25yds. The glass was that poor. I wasn't expecting a particularly crisp image but neither did I think the sight picture would look like vaseline was smeared on the AO lense.

The focus ring was almost useless.

I put the fixed 6x32 Leapers, which has always served me well, back on the rifle. I'll sacrifice the magnification for clarity.
